In the most important event of the season,in the presence of the strongest rivals in the world and on a course that, by her own admission, would have put to the test everything she had learned this year, the U19 Giorgia Pellizotti (in the photo by Maxime Schmid) showed off a performance of absolute value by finishing in fourteenth place in the Xco race at the MTB World Championships in Valais.
The quality of the performance of the young athlete from the Trinx Factory Team goes beyond the finishing order: it is certainly important that the italian biker, who started with the number 44, was able to climb up the group in the first two laps, settling into 13th place and only losing a position in the fifth and final lap; just as it is worth noting that Giorgia, in her first year in the category, finished fifth among the athletes born in 2008. But what matters most is that in the last race of the MTB season the athlete took another step forward, crowning with an international top 15 a year that saw her become Italian XCO champion, Italian vice-champion in short track, winner of the Internazionali d'Italia Series circuit. Without forgetting the third place in the Italian road championship.
«This season, and this World Championship, gave me more confidence in my abilities and the awareness of the quality of the path that brought me this far», confirms Giorgia Pellizotti.
«Starting from the fifth row on a course where I was afraid of the downhill sections was a challenge. Instead, everything went smoothly: we managed the various phases of the race, and even on a technical track like the Swiss one, I rode well and had fun. It was the perfect way to end my first season among the U19s, as I look forward to starting again next year with even more conviction».
The Trinx Factory Team's World Championships will feature another round. On Sunday, Lucia Bramati, fresh from Tuesday's short track race, will be back in the saddle at 10:30 am for the Under 23 XCO race.
