The European Championships adventure of the four Trinx Factory Team athletes selected for the Portuguese event has concluded today with Lucia Bramati's eleventh place finish in the Under 23 race.
The 22 year old, in the race won by Valentina Corvi, fought for a top eight finish until the last lap, finishing in eleventh place, her best result in a continental championship: in addition to the top 10 she missed today, Lucia (pictured by Maxime Schmid) had finished eighth in the short track specialty on Thursday, demonstrating her consistency also on an international level.
While Bramati saw this European Championships as an opportunity to validate her progress at the international level before making the leap to the Elite category in 2026, the journey in northern Portugal was a valuable chance for Under-23 athlete Sverre Van Lee and junior athletes Giorgia Pellizotti and Pietro Cao to compete against the continent's best specialists.
The Belgian, competing in his first European Championship among the Under 23s, finished 46th yesterday. Also yesterday, Pietro Cao, after finishing fifth in the short track, closed out his first European adventure with an unfortunate 36th in the Olympic Cross Country race, caused by some mechanical problems. Useful insights also for Giorgia Pellizotti: after the fourth place on Thursday in the XCC, the newly crowned Italian champion, in her first year among the Under 19s, finished 19th, the best of the Italian representatives.
