Valentina Corvi is the new cyclocross Italian champion of the Junior Women. The young biker from Tirano took a solo victory in Ostia Antica, bringing to three the number of tricolor jerseys won by those competing with the Trinx Factory Team.
The race of the athlete directed and trained by Luca Bramati was perfect: Valentina immediately took control of the operations on a fast track, in which it
was difficult to make a difference; imposing her pace, the 17-years-old avoided the trouble of the tricky track, but at the same she was able to safe some energies for the finale.
«I knew I couldn't make the difference from the first lap, so I tried to study my opponents during the initial laps to figure out where I could attack», explains Valentina Corvi. «In the last two laps I went full gas, gaining important seconds and winning the Italian Championship. Who is the dedication for? To the team, to my coach and to the family, with whom I have shared many trips this year all around the Europe».
Travels that didn't end for the Valentina, who will now return to wearing the national jersey to participate in the last two World Cup rounds, before racing in the Cyclocross World Championship in Hoogerheide (Netherlands).
If Valentina Corvi's race was perfect, bad luck got in the way of the Under 23 Lucia Bramati, who finished fourth at the end of an incredible comeback. The 19-year-old from Sandrigo, author of another excellent start, was involved in the crash with Sara Casasola at the first corner, repairing a knee wound that required five stitches.
Despite the delay and the pain, Lucia was able to put together five excellent laps, overtaking Giada Borghesi and returning to 8" from the silver medal of Carlotta Borello. An incredible effort that the young biker paid off only in the finale, when she was reassembled by the sisters Giada and Letizia Borghesi who, also relying on their numerical superiority, in the final lap cracked Lucia.
The pace of the girl born in 2003 was in any case excellent, moreover on a track that shouldn't have suited her characteristics; this performance gave positive insight in view of the last seasonal races.
